Fauntleroy v. City of Chicago, et al. – David Fauntleroy was convicted in 1986 of murder and armed robbery. Based on allegations that he was tortured into confessing, Fauntleroy filed a post-conviction petition in 2009 which was granted and his convictions were vacated and he was released from prison. Fauntleroy has now sued several retired Chicago police officers and the City of Chicago claiming that he was tortured into confessing to the crimes. He also claims that some of the defendants failed to intervene during his alleged mistreatment. The case is pending in the Northern District of Illinois.
