S. Ann Walls joined Andrew M. Hale and Associates in 2011. Ms. Walls concentrates her practice in civil rights litigation. Prior to joining Andrew M. Hale and Associates, Ms. Walls was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois where she defended the State, its officials, and its law enforcement personnel in Section 1983 litigation. Ms. Walls also clerked for the Honorable James F. Holderman, Chief Judge of United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
While clerking for the federal courts, Ms. Walls worked on dozens of civil rights cases at all stages of the trial and appellate processes. She also served as a Commission Member for the Seventh Circuit American Jury Project, which implemented and studied innovative trial procedures designed to enhance juror comprehension and engagement in the trial process.
Ms. Walls graduated from DePaul University College of Law summa cum laude, earning awards of excellence in writing, research, and criminal procedure.
